6. The animals and plants of Tasmania



Tasmania is a part of Australia. The environment of Tasmania is suitable for most animals and plants. Therefore, there are a lot of scarce animals and plants, such as platypus, whale, Pandani and Huon pine and so on. In addition, this area is natural and non-contaminated place.

About animals, there are a lot of lovely animals. For example, In Tasmania, platypuses are living in the lakes of the Tasmanian Central Highlands and in the rivers and streams of the south and north-west coasts. Tasmanian platypus is bigger than their mainland cousins. Furthermore, the famous animal in Tasmania is the Tasmanian devil, which is only found in here. That is the world’s largest surviving carnivorous marsupial.

About plants, the plants in here are so beautiful. Everyone will like this place. For example, the Pandani is only found in Tasmania. In Tasmania, pandanis are found in sub-alpine plant communities. If we go to there, we can see enormous stands of pandanis around Dove Lake at Cradle Mountain.
